OPEN WATER SCUBA Becoming a certified SCUBA diver is not as complicated as you might think. It is very rewarding and a ton of fun.
Becoming a certified Open Water diver consists of four parts: 1. Home Study You will learn the principles of diving through a book and video before coming to your first class. .
2. Class Work The class will review what you have learned and help you understand parts that are confusing. Our instructers are friendly and patient, making sure you understand the fundamentals. You will learn some of the physics behind diving, as well as proper equipment set-up and care.
3. Pool Dives We do these at Michigan Center High School. Get in the water with your equipment on in a confined environment to learn the skills that you will need.You will learn how to breath underwater, balance yourself (called neutral bouancy), as well as how to handle situations like loosing your regulator or your mask.
4. Open Water Dives These can be completed here in Jackson, or on the trip of your choice. You will get into the water with a certified instructor who will help you feel comfortable and safe.
