OPEN WATER SCUBA
Becoming a certified SCUBA diver is not as complicated as you might think. It is very rewarding and a ton of fun.

Becoming a certified Open Water diver consists of four parts:

1. Home Study

You will learn the principles of diving through a book and video before
coming to your first class. .

2. Class Work

The class will review what you have learned and help you understand parts that are confusing. Our instructers are friendly and patient, making sure you understand the fundamentals. You will learn some of the physics behind diving, as well as proper equipment set-up and care.

3. Pool Dives

We do these at Michigan Center High School. Get in the water with your equipment on in a confined environment to learn the skills that you will
need. You will learn how to breath underwater, balance yourself (called neutral bouancy), as well as how to handle situations like loosing your regulator or your mask.

4. Open Water Dives

These can be completed here in Jackson, or on the trip of your choice. You will get into the water with a certified instructor who will help you feel comfortable and safe.
